Basics to astronomy.
Astronomy is the study of space as you might have already have thought. It actually starts to tie into Physics. In this I will be talking to you about astronomy from the basics(planets, stars, suns, ect...) to more advanced subjects like black holes and worm holes. I really hope that you enjoy what you will be reading.
The sun is a star at the center of the solar system. It is a perfectly spherical ball of burning gas. It consists of hot plasma kept together by the magnetic fields. It has a diamiter of about 1,392,000 km, about 109 times that of the earth. Its mass of about 2 x 1030 kilograms,330,000 times that of the earth. It accounts for about 99.86% of the total mass of our solar system. Chemicaly it has about three quarters of the sun consists of Hydrogen, while the rest is mostly Helium. Less than 2% consists of any heavier elements including oxygen, carbon, neon, iron and others. This amount (1.69%) is still enough matter to make about 5,628 planets the size of earth. The sun was informally named a yellow dwarf from the earth it looks yellow because of the atmospheric scattering of blue light. The suface tempuratuer of the sun is approximently 5505 deggress calseus. It generates its energy from the nuclear fusion of Hydrogen nuclei into Helium. In its core the sun fuses 620 million metric tons of Hydrogen each second. Once thought to be a small reletively insignifcant star, now it is thought to be brighter than about 85% of the known stars in the Milky Way galaxy which is mostly filled with red dwarfs. The sun is currently traveling through the local intersteller cloud in the local bubble zone. Within the inner rim of the Orion Arm of the Milky Way galexey. Of the 50 nearest steller systems within 17 Light-years from earth, (the closest being a red dwarf named Proxima Centauri at approximently 4.2 Light-years away from earth.) the sun ranks fourth in mass. The sun orbits the center of the Milkey Way at a distance of approximently 24,000-26,000 Light years from the galactic center, compleating one clockwise orbit, as veiwed from the galactic north pole,in about 225-250 million years.
